Responding to the Queen’s Speech, Labour and Co-operative MP for Redcar, Anna Turley, said:
“This Queen’s Speech was an attempt by the Prime Minister to distract attention from his shambolic Brexit negotiations.
“He won the job by promising the right wing of his party a better deal or no deal but in office he has no workable plan and the Operation Yellowhammer papers show how destructive his no deal Brexit policy will be for our country.
“Moreover, for someone whose life ambition has to been to become Prime Minister, this was no transformational vision for the future of Great Britain. This does not fix our broken economy, improve public services, or transform our society for the better. There’s nothing here for the people of Redcar or Teesside. Behind all the pomp, it was a complete damp squib.
“The only positive is the government do plan to bring my Baby’s Law for tougher animal cruelty sentencing back. A nation of animal lovers are waiting to see this law passed and for animal abusers to receive the punishment they deserve.”
