Responding to the news that Amanda Skelton CBE, Chief Executive of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, is set to retire after 11 years in the role, Labour and Co-operative MP for Redcar, Anna Turley, said:

“Amanda has been a first rate Chief Executive for Redcar & Cleveland, leading our local authority through challenging times including coping with severe central government funding cuts and the steelworks closure whilst still driving the borough forward. She has personally championed and delivered big regeneration projects like those on the seafront, the swimming pool and civic heart and the Kirkleatham estate. Working alongside Amanda on the SSI Taskforce and many other initiatives, I’ve seen the impact of her knowledge, experience and determination to deliver for the people of our area. I would like to thank her for her service and wish her well for her retirement.”
