I have just come from a meeting of the British Steel Support Group in Doncaster, chaired by Secretary of State Greg Clark.

We know the uncertainty is causing a lot of anxiety for the workforce and businesses in the supply chain but please rest assured that everything possible is being done behind the scenes to secure a positive future for the business. Everyone knows the consequences of failure after SSI in Redcar and are working flat out to find a buyer.

This is a strong business with a great order book and all the work is being done to secure a buyer who can support it to flourish over the long term, so that it continues to be the pride of Teesside and Scunthorpe, and the pride of Britain.

Trade union reps will be keeping the workforce updated and there is also an employee helpline if anyone has concerns: 0161 333 2666 britishsteelemployees@uk.ey.com

If you have any questions you would like me to get answers to, please get in touch: anna.turley.mp@parliament.uk

I will be meeting the Prime Minister on Wednesday, alongside other steel MPs, and will update everyone again then.
