I am truly humbled to serve Redcar constituency as your Member of Parliament. I love our community and I’m proud to stand up and fight for the town I live in.
Fighting to bring jobs to our area will always be my top priority. Decent, skilled jobs that give local families on Teesside the security of being able to pay the bills and provide a good standard of living.
I want our children to learn in the best schools so there is no ceiling to their ambition and will fight for the investment needed to deliver that. Keeping our streets safe means we need to invest in our police too, not cut funding as the Tories have done leading to fewer bobbies on the beat. Our campaign for tougher legislation on animal cruelty must also continue if we are to get justice for Baby and Scamp.
You know I am not just another politician who only turns up at election time. I am out every week meeting residents, community groups, charities and businesses to listen to your concerns and priorities.
Every day I have made sure Teesside’s voice is heard loud and clear in Westminster.
Anna was first elected as the Labour and Cooperative MP for Redcar at the 2015 General Election. She was re-elected in 2017 with over 50% of the vote.
Before entering Parliament, Anna worked for over 10 years as a public servant seeking to tackle social exclusion, poverty and worklessness. Under the last Labour government, Anna was proud to be part of the team that brought in the Family Nurse Partnership scheme that supports vulnerable young mums and their children, as well as programmes for adults with severe challenges around substance abuse, homelessness and exclusion.
In Parliament she serves as Secretary of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Steel and Metal Related Industries, and on the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee.
