West Dyke Road Rail Crossing Update

Proposed_Rail_Barriers.jpg

Network Rail are expecting to commence the upgrade of the rail crossing on the week of the 8th November.

This is an example of the proposed telescopic barriers which have been designed with the specific problems at this crossing in mind.

Network Rail have fast-tracked the design and approval process due to the disruption being caused by the current gate. The upgrade was originally planned for 2018!

The council will also be carrying out resurfacing work at the same time.

It is great news that this is going ahead much sooner. Whilst the closure of the road for the work to be completed will be an inconvenience, hopefully this will be the end of the regular disruption to the town centre.

I will keep you posted on any further news.
