Anna signs Holocaust Educational Trust Book of Commitment

This week Anna signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment, in doing so pledging her commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and honouring those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as paying tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people today. Saturday 27th January will mark the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history. In the lead up to and on Holocaust Memorial Day, thousands of commemorative events will be arranged by schools, faith groups and community organisations across the country, remembering all the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides. Further job losses at Boulby potash mine

Today ICL Fertilisers, the company behind Boulby potash mine, have announced the mine will cease production of potash this year. They will switch focus to producing fertiliser polyhalite instead. The restructure means as many as 230 jobs could be lost in months. Continue reading

November Casework Update

November was a busy month for my office with a lot of residents needing support. The number of people coming to us in absolute poverty, struggling to feed themselves and their families and unable to pay utility bills, has risen massively. Food bank referrals are increasing and, at this time of year especially, Redcar area food bank (also covering Greater Eston) is in high demand.
