Following the public meeting we held on improving Redcar High Street, some proposals have been drawn up based on the main priorities you told us, including:
- Making use of empty units
- Retail space for start-ups
- Improving poor quality shop fronts
- Improving the image and marketing of the town
- Advice and support for new businesses
- Encouraging more people to live in the town centre.

The proposals are backed up by a multi-million pound investment fund, including £1 million committed by the council and £5 million secured by the SSI Taskforce.
For the project to be a success it needs to be a proper partnership with businesses and the community. So there are a number of ways you can comment on the proposals:
2 - Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
3 - A consultation event in Redcar next month. Details will be publicised soon.
4 - Councillor Carl Quartermain will be holding a surgery on the High Street next month for retail and market stall holders
Please have a look over the proposals and give your feedback on them. If you think the ideas are good, need changing, or if you have ideas for other schemes that would help make sure you share them.
If you raised an idea at the public meeting that hasn't made it into this document, it hasn't been discarded. Some of the suggestions were bigger ambitions that will take more time to explore.
